Ronnie Logan, owner of and head chef at "Original Ronnie's BBQ Restaurant", located here in the Varina District of Henrico County was named Best Chef at the Six in the City Southern BBQ Experience in Chicago.

His BBQ joint is less than 2 miles from my house, and I've known the Logans for over 20 years. I coached his super talented son, Brian, in Little League and Babe Ruth Baseball.

Yes, their food is really good, but they are open only on Fri, Sat, and Sun, Noon - 7:00pm or until they are sold out (happens often!).

Nice!

What can he do with short ribs?

The ribs I usually get are hickory smoked and slow cooked, and I believe they are 'back ribs', so not too sure about short ribs. I love their collard greens, they are absolutely to die for! Their pulled pork BBQ is really good, but vinegar based (Carolina style). I'm not a huge fan of vinegar based pork BBQ. Virginia BBQ has that delightfully tangy vinegar, tomato-mustard blend sauce!

That second link I posted in the original post has a MENU tab at the top. I'm not sure why, but he has numerous items listed as "out of stock" if you have a look at the "ORDER ONLINE" tab on the same page. I'm going by there Saturday, and will ask him what's up with the menu items listed as 'out of stock'.

FYI: Short ribs are beef ribs. Them I can eat.

(No, I don’t know why beef ribs are called “short” ribs)

they're not the only kind of beef ribs. other ribs end up in ribeye steak and crown roasts.
