CBS/Paramount has announced that it’s eight Owned And Operated Stations currently affiliated with The CW Network, including WPCW in Pittsburgh, will be dropping their network affiliation this Fall and become independents.

The CW was formerly a joint venture of Paramount (remember UPN?) and Warner Brothers (the WB), But they sold controlling interest in the network to Nexstar recently.

Could this be the beginning of the end of the CW?

Probably, but they don’t own the network.

The local Sinclair station (53) is affiliated with Fox (bleh).

When we first got a CW channel, aka, The CW, it was before the multiple digital offerings and was directed a specific set of demographics.
