The Reds just threw a no-hitter against the Pirates.

But!

The Pirates WON 1 to 0!!

Reds pitchers walked the bases loaded in the bottom of the 8th inning. With 1 out, Ke’bryan Hayes hits a ball that COULD have been an inning ending double play... but he beat out the throw to first, making it a Fielders Choice. Run scored... no hit but an RBI.

Only the 6th time in the modern era this has happened. (Last happened in June 2008).

Raise The Jolly Roger!

That’s the sort of thing that reminds us baseball fans of why we are baseball fans.

I worked with someone who stayed up to watch a MLB game that was 1-0. He described it as going to a Cricket game and seeing the ball only go to the boundary once in 7 hours.

No appreciation for a pitcher’s duel? That ain’t cricket!

This explains why there are no rules in One day cricket to prevent putting all the fielders on the boundary, negative bowling wide of the stumps and underarm bowling along the ground.

That old chestnut. There have not been timeless games since the 1930's. In fact delay of game penalties are frequenly applied. We won the league thanks to runs added due the opponents in a close game chosing to sign the All India dawdling champion.
