View Full Version : HTX-10 CW
I have an opportunity to pick up a Radio Shack HTX-10 10 Meter transceiver. Working and in good condition.
iF I get it, I wouldn’t mind adding CW capability. (At least for transmit, a narrow audio CW filter shouldn’t be hard to come up with). Anyone know of any mods for that purpose?
All I’m seeing are “other band” type mods. While adding 12 would be nice, these aren’t the mods I’m looking for.
Thanx!

After years of wondering if this radio could be modded, I had one in the early 00's, you got me to searching again.
Back in the day this was an unmodifiable radio because Riley and the FCC were really cracking down on freebanders and CW was on its way out as a testing requirement. You can hardwire a keyer etc.
Now, different direction because this is what you made me find:

Stick that in your HTX-10!
[edit] no really. Stick that in your HTX-10.

Here's one ham's take on the CW mod for the HTX-10.

Nah. Thanks, but... I’ve never had any interest in that band. Not then, not now.
Nothing against those who do use it and enjoy it. It’s just not for me.

Hmmm. Well, that’s one way. I’ll give it some thought, after I pick up the rig tomorrow.

CW?
, the HTX10s older brother the HTX100 had CW. Not sure why Radio Shack went away from it.
So the 10 is without cw? How are you going to put cw into it? (or did I miss that already?)

It will take you into 12m. The video demonstrates the versatility of the dds.

Well, that is the question, isn’t it?
I have an HTX-100 here.
Was thinking about donating it to 'DSG but she doesn't seem interested in putting a ham shack together at present. What I'll probably end up doing with the thing is to resurrect the old MSYS BBS, or perhaps set up a KPC-4, a high(er) power 2M rig and the -100 on 28.195 at 1200 baud for an HF/VHF gateway function. Used to use an HR-2510 or an HR-2600 in that capacity but people seem to prefer the HTX-100's SSB filtering over the other rigs.
