This could wipe a few things out.

Wrong kind of event. I don't think there was any giant shove in the bathtub like other seismic events have done. It's all in the style of earthquake involved. It was pretty damned strong for sure but I don't think any plate displacement took place. At least I hope not. Nevertheless, it got everyones attention I bet. Haven't heard of damage yet on tv, but I haven't turned it on today either. I pray all is well, or at least can be expected for in such an event in that part of the world.

I think you're right. They rescinded the warning.

It's all in the geology. Now, when that happens here; time to shit some drawers.

Maybe it wasn't "newsy" enough.

Naw, it's me not being in touch enough. I saw it on the late news. Hopefully nothing major happened to the population there.

On the island of La Palma (African coastal area) is sited the Cumbre Vieja volcano.

Its makeup consists of lava dikes interspersed with breccia and ash deposits. Water flowing into the system - coupled with sulfur compounds that mix with the water and form sulfuric acid - have weakened the western flank of the vent over time.

Get a nice, big temblor (or worse yet, a large eruption) and said flank will collapse into the Atlantic. East coast US will see waves of between 100 to 150+ ft hit around 6h after the event.

Yeah, it'll get sporty for John and George.

Does the water vortex spin te opposite direction in the southern hemisphere? Is a hemidemisemiquaver the smallest note?

Yup, all quite true. The east coast thought they were safe from stuff the west coast is under a gun for all the time. At least there is the 6 hour window, but how will that play out for say John in NYC? Can you say panic and gridlock. What a fucked up mess that would be. George might have it a little easier but who knows? The whole thing gives me the willies.

Yeah, that is scary. We even got a tsunami warning here in New River.

I doubt I would get any seawater at my location. I'm probably far enough north of the city and far enough inland. It would probably take something more like an asteroid impact into the ocean to deliver actual seawater to my location. What would impact us the most would be the disruption of goods and services due to the crippling effect of the massive flooding in nearby areas. Places like Long Island, Brooklyn, Manhattan, areas near Long Island Sound, etc. would experience serious problems.

What about Jim? Would his underground bunker flood, or is it a watertight affair?

Good question especially now that he's on a ship in the Caribbean.
