Take care of yourselves this coming week, into next.

Seems this German gal 'Irma' is coming to dance, and it doesn't look to be very pretty.

Watching it because it will pass the Dutch islands as well.
Looks to be a real bummer Cat 5, hope everyone stays safe...

Dutch military forces and ships on standby there ready to help.
The supply ships carry helicopters and boats as well containers with aid material.

185 miles per hour. Wind that is.
I've seen Florida. That's enough to level the southern half. Nuclear level destruction. If it turns north like they're saying, well, I blame Trump. If it goes into the Gulf of Mexico I know it's messed up, but it should hit the same area of Texas again. It's already destroyed.

Had several relatives move to the Melbourne area over the years. I really hope they dodge a bullet, but I doubt that they truly realize what they are facing.

I'm sure the free and open market will protect them from the fake news of climate change causing megastorms to be more frequent.

If the current models hold, FL and SC are gonna get a belt-sanding.

Stay safe, Charles.

I'll just get a bunch of rain and wind. Tropical storm type stuff.
During Hugo the biggest problem was power being out and my employer insisting that all shifts run as regular. So, we all stood in the dark plant. Couldn't sweep because of the dark etc. We stood there and talked. Mostly complaining about not even being allowed to sit down since it was close to 7 hours before power restored and cracking jokes about whatever the topic of the day was. The plant manager walks by and hears us talking. Tells our shift supervisor that we are the worst shift he's ever seen and that our attitudes is that which is akin to kindergartners who didn't get their juice and cookie that day. We're all like, "WTF does this sorry ginger SOB expect?" On of the guys was older and he bellowed forth in his best Shakespearean voice, "There shall be no levity upon the situation anon for thee is surely, surely thee know'st 'tis common; all that lives must die ..." Before he could finish the line he was sent home and laid off for 3 days.

Just saw a report from St. Martin - 225 MPH winds. This is easily the strongest Atlantic Hurricane (outside the Caribbean) in history. The expectation is that it will drop to a Cat 4 when it hits land, but who knows? If I lived in Florida, I'd get out my water wings and start paddling north.

That's almost like a 30-mile-wide F4 tornado.

I still have to see it drop to a Cat 4 Hurricane, the water temperature around Cuba and Florida is extremely hot, feeding the Hurricane, my bet is it will stay a Cat 5 Hurricane or maybe just under.

This Irma is a major disaster in progress. I hope there is minimal loss of property, and no loss of life.

For those of you in harms way, I'll be thinking of you, hoping you are safe.

Find a good place to hunker down, and forget about your radios and other possessions. They are replaceable, you aren't. Take care of your families, friends, and neighbors.

Hang on and may God be with you.

I remember the damage done by Hurricane Sandy when it hit NY. and that was only a Cat 1 when it hit. A CAT 5 makes hurricane Sandy look like a kiddie toy,

I can't wait to move way up into the far north. Yeah the winters are extremely bitter cold and punctuated by heavy snows. But I much prefer it to dealing with hurricanes, tornadoes, head, humidity, etc.

There is a positive in all this....... the opportunity of seeing Anderson Cooper blowing by in the wind! The only good thing to see on CNN when there is a chance for something to happen to him when he sticks his neck out to report on the hurricane!

This is the cam for the buoy landmark called Southern Most Point. The waves and water are crashing up on the street and people and still driving by and stopping.
This is Key West. Five feet of surge will put most of the island under water. Eight feet and it's gone.

I went through two hurricanes in Florida and it is not a good experience. My prayers to everyone and please evacuate if you are told to, there is just too much risk to stay.

I live just north of Tampa. I have been through 9 hurricanes now and this one was by far the scariest coming in. We are still without power, but they are saying it should be back up by midnight tonight. We'll see. I got lucky and was able to buy a generator, but I can't imagine what it's like for those without one. The Keys who routinely get hit have never experienced any storm like this before. The devastation there is massive and will be years coming back from this. I will say the death toll is surprisingly low considering the power of Irma. I was expecting it to be much higher. Even in the Caribbean the number of deaths was lower then I thought it would be. So, I guess we can be thankful for that. The coming weeks will be hard for many people in South Florida and along the islands. Keep them in your thoughts.

Glad you and your family are doing good. Looking at the pictures of before and after, HOLY SH!T. Lucky it wasn't 10 times the death toll. Maybe all those crazy fcskers with the Weather Channel that are out in the middle of storms actually get across the point of a storms fury. I wouldn't do it.

Power or no power, glad we can see you on the other side of Irma.

Thanks, we got our power back yesterday afternoon. Today I spent the day cleaning up. This week I will start getting my antennas back up in the air. Looking around we came out of it really well. I can't complain, because it could have been so much worse. Now, I'm watching for Maria and hoping it turns north and spares everyone.

Early on Oxycontin Fatso (a.k.a Rush Limbo) was telling his listeners that Hurricane Irma was fake liberal news orchestrated to scare people into believing in climate change. But a couple days later Fatso evacuated his Florida studio. Guess it wasn't fake enough ?
