I was tuning around down the bottom of 2 meters yesterday afternoon , and heard this beacon 5-5-9 on 144285. I was using my Icom 706 , and a 13 element yagi @ 18 feet. The transmitter site is 281 miles from me, in Forest, VA. FM-07. What a kick ass signal. And, no tropo band enchantment. The transmitter run 500 watts into stacked 6 EL yagis @ 4200 feet above sea level. Wonder if he will ever make it across the Atlantic?
