Jim Delligatti, the man who created the Big Mac (claimed as a "Pittsburgh" creation, even though the franchise was actually located 40 miles away in Uniontown PA) has passed away. He was 98.

Could you imagine if he got a royalty of, say, a nickel for every one of those "billions and billions" sold? (And remember, they took the numbers off of the signs when they went past 99 Billion) Even if it was only for the first few years...

But to be honest, I don't know what compensation (if any) he got for inventing the thing.

I heard his casket looked like a sesame seed bun.

According to his own words, he only received a plaque for it....;)

Even I received plaque in my arteries by eating them all my life.

Impossible. He sounds Italian. No way an Italian could create "AMERICAN" food!
I live in The South so I should know!

I watched the story on the McDonald's. It was on the television on one of those channels about the history. Interesting stuff. McDonald's was the first to really put into play serving a consistent product that tasted exactly the same no matter which store you went to.
Wendy's on the other hand claims to source the beef locally.

The reason he lived that long is like Fermi, Oppenheimer et al, he created it, he didn't EAT it.
