Got a call from Washington DC yesterday.

Seems that the US Government is giving me $9000! This nice gentleman with a foreign accent told me so!

Actually, it's going to be $18,000. Seems that about an hour before, someone from the US Government called the Boss and told her the same thing.

Must have been a bad connection, though. When I asked when they were sending the check, the connection dropped. Oh well, I'm SURE that the Check Is In The Mail.

I once got a call from a guy with an Indian accent purporting to be from the “IRS Department.” I gave him a ration of shit but didn't tell him that I knew he was a con artist because it ain't called the “IRS Department.” I didn't want to tip him off so he could change his script.

ON EDIT: And, just now, I got an “emergency” robocall from someone at “Microsoft Technical Department” telling me that my Windows product key had expired and that I needed to call them up immediately (he said, as he types this on his Mac).
