He's a little high on price for that ensemble but they are good rigs. My main gripe with them is the AM generation method - essentially exalted carrier SSB...but they don't sound bad. Certainly usable for the intended purpose.

On SSB it's a toss-up between the CPI and a Stoner PRO-40. Hook up a decent DSP audio filter to the 2000's external speaker connection, flip the rear-panel speaker select switch and you get the same effect as the Stoner's "Whistlestop" control. External DSPs with an auto-notch feature are better still and one of these is what I run with my CPI stuff in the lineup.
