Despite an increase in the minimum wage, and other things conservatives said would kill jobs.

I bet this is going to anger some angry old white men. Someone needs to post this on that other site just to see their reactions...for entertainment purposes. I would, but I don't believe in paying subscription fees for online forums.

It seems like everybody in the U.S. hates California but every one of the haters would be screwed if the state wasn't here driving the economy. The country needs CA a lot more than CA needs the rest of the country. If California were a sovereign nation, it would have a larger economy than most others—it would have the ninth-largest GDP in the world, in fact.

I think they hate California because California does all those things they say are against the rules, and their stated outcomes never happen. Many times positive things happen. This probably explains why they spend so much effort trying to stop things like high speed rail. Could you imagine the consequences if high speed rail worked out in California and subsequently became popular in other parts of the country?

No, QRZ. I use the California flag for my avatar on that site. Keeps them thinking about California when they see it.

I always loved your defense of the home state. When I was more active over there I used to jump the dimbulbs for the 'fruits and nuts' crap.

Commander McBragg K9STH was the worst with that. It is ALWAYS fun sticking it to that pompous ass.

PS: I grew up in the Bay Area...

As did I, a third-generation San Franciscan, although I'm currently expatriated to San Diego County. That may change over the next year, once I get comfortable enough with my boat to sail her northward to a home port in the eastern reaches of San Francisco Bay. That's where all my remaining family and friends are.

Despite what is alleged by some of The Usual Suspects who are their usual pompous selves Over Yonder, it is not true that the rest of the country hates California.

In fact, much of the country is secretly envious of the Southern half of the Left Coast.

Almost as secretly envious as they are of the Garden State.

I'm not jealous of NJ but George does have some nice internal combustion vehicles including an antique riding lawn mower.

I have numerous relatives there, and they seem fairly happy. Six and Ten meter openings into CA from here usually result in an interesting QSO or two.
