How bad did the anti-legalization propaganda get?
It varies county to county. Despite some of the restrictions, some folks have even been able to make a profit (cash only)

There's a blast from the past!
How's it going, Rob?
Meh, not a fan.
I got away from the liquid spirits a few years ago and don't miss them a bit.
Tried pot for the first time in decades when we moved to WA. The operative word there is "tried". I was not impressed.
I guess if nothing else, it saves me money in the long run.

I need to check back here more often.
It wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. Truly, it took some conservative support to really pull it all together. Actual Reefer Madness type of propaganda? None. Everybody knows that was a lie.
I sure see a lot of out-of-state plates these days.

Not bad, really. The big news is that I decided to retire. End of this month, I'm d.o.n.e.

Yeah, what happened to the stuff that made you wanna laugh all night?
Everything in CO is super strong. If you're not acclimated to it, it'll push you over the edge. And if you ARE acclimated to it, you're doing it too much.
Just can't win. <shrugs>

My folks live over in NE now and bitch about how all the druggies come from CO with their devil weed.
The part they don't acknowledge is that the druggies are residents of their state coming home with the goods. They're just never going to get it :=(

NE has a particularly bad ad campaign going on, endorsed by the governor and the police, against Colorado pot laws.
Why. Am. I. Not. Surprised?

A KS sheriff set up a border checkpoint in his town when CO first went legal.
Well, if 6 land gets on board then who knows? It seems that as CA goes, eventually so does the rest of the republic. IMO, YMMV

Here's something that brought back memories and a possible reason why:
"Tried pot for the first time in decades when we moved to WA. The operative word there is "tried". I was not impressed."
A long time ago in a galaxy far away there was a guy who couldn't get high no matter how hard he tried. We called Paul Dead Man after the end groove in a Beatles album that repeated "Turn me on dead man." over and over. Then one day he was with us in a room full of smoke, when he got up he was so wobbly and disoriented he could hardly stand and kept bumping into things, a contact high from just breathing the air. It reminded me of the midnight showing of Reefer Madness at the theatre downtown, the smoke was so thick we could hardly see the screen and the cops standing around providing security doing Paul's dead man thing.
Now that's where you come in, "The Dead Man Syndrome" is fairly common and for some getting stoned is "an acquired taste". Pot gives an entirely different high than alcohol and has many advantages that you like so many others know about so I don't have to go into it, just recommend it to those who like to kick back, relax and enjoy life.

I've heard of the turf wars with neighboring states. Buncha whining crybabies as far as I'm concerned. Druggies? Well, okay.... I'm laughing because I've been waiting for this (rec. legalization) for a few decades. You're right, though. The numbers are staggering, and as stoned as Colorado is, we're not burning a billion in weed a year. I heard that number on the local radio today.
Do your folks have any good local stories? Always interested. ;)
OK, druggies is their word, not mine.
I've never considered myself to be a "druggie" except for that period during and after "high" <phrasing!> school where excessive experimentation with anything & everything occurred daily.
Nowadays I can't comment personally due to some imperial entanglements but everyone I know in the know is pretty happy about it. Ask me again Oct 31 2019!
On edit: No, they wouldn't have any 'good' stories but I have heard how some of the counties on the borders are having issues with jail overcrowding due to their agents of doom doing their job and their draconian laws mandating these poor bastards be treated like pedophiles. What a mess it is indeed.

I've expected this for quite a long time. A few years ago a mate in Australia spent a couple of months vacationing in Californucation, he called it the marijuana capitol of the US with a (medical) dispensary on every block. Seeing what's going on in Colorado and Washington it's the lure of the almighty dollar, I expect Californucation being the most progressive state in the union will soon legalize recreational use. Being the most progressive state in the union I'm more than surprised it wasn't the first state to legalize it. One last thing since that's San Diego, I'm wondering if the Zoot Suiters can handle the competition.
http://www.mercurynews.com/ci_23384220/zoot-suit-riots-latino-culture-california-anniversary This came to mind because my best friend was in the Navy and when he came home from Vietnam he had this HUGE duffle bag hard as a rock and so heavy we could barely carry it in from the car. Take just one guess what it was stuffed with.
Colorado got it passed by having the vote on an off-election year. Those for it were motivated to actually vote, those indifferent, or against it, not so much. Not sure how difficult it is to get a medical permission slip in Colorado vs. California, but I would guess it is easier in Cali
FYI, Arizona will get the 4:20 question in November.
AFAIK, meh.
And Califuckitornia will give MMJ cards to anyone presenting a pulse. Arizona has rejected me TWICE.

Have fun and enjoy it.....
