I just gave the ARRL $49, so I can work the Sept VHF contest. I had so much fun handing out contacts during the June contest, I figured I would send in a log for this one. CQ 6.

I worked that one years ago with 10w output on SSB; 3el on 6 and 10el on 2. At the time I used a TV-506 and a KLM Multi-2700. Put a lot of contacts in the log with that very modest station, including a bunch on the east coast.

Why would one depend on the other? :headscratch: I've been in a few ARRL VHF contests and have never sent them a dime.

Nope, they'll take whomever.

The September contest is usually quieter than June or January, due to a lack of eskip at that time of year. But, by all means, go for it. I think with the increased use of FM in these contests, they are getting to be more fun again.

I first got involved with contesting on 6 when I was going for my VUCC award. A great way to pick up new grids, and have a lot of fun working the contest.

CQ 6.Ah, you know, you don't have to join the League to participate in a contest. You can even win and buy tsotchkes without being a member, as our Delaware cave dweller proved a few years back.

Not that I'd want to discourage you from joining, but this wasn't necessary.

I may even go for my 225 endorsement for 6 meter VUCC. I guess you have to be a member to participate in any of the award programs.

That, unfortunately, is true. :irked:
