So... After five years of riding I have decided to graduate from the Ninja 250 to something bigger.

Say hello to my little friend!

It's a 1982 Yamaha 750 Maxim. Purrs like a kitten and almost as cute.

Nice shape for the vintage. I bet it scoots like a severely molested simian too. And I bet the price was more than right as well. Good choice overall Kelli.

I know someone who's gonna have fun this summer. Especially when fuel runs back up to ridiculous again (and it will). But no straight pipes or ape hangers for you, yl. Zoom zoom!

Awesome looking bike.
About straight piping. There are some places you'll never be able to visit on an unbaffled bike. Around my area, Chimney Rock is but one of them.

I've turned wrenches on many of those Yamaha inline fours and their UJM (Universal Japanese Motorcycle) counterparts. Back in the day, the Grail was an 1100 Midnight Special. Or a KZ1000L. CB1000 Custom ('82). GS1100L. '83 Spectre 1100.

Then the V-Max arrived on-scene and the game got more fierce. Mr. Max was viewed as a "test-ride killer", especially when V-Boost came online and caught the new-to-the-concept rider unaware. Everyone else followed suit with their own flavor of V-Four...except for Kawasaki. I would absolutely LOVE to find an all-original '85-'86 1000 Eliminator to add to my stable, even though everything else in my garage will smoke it soundly.

Advice I'll give is to keep fluids changed and use a good quality oil and filter. If it's chain drive, consider going to an o-ring chain plus compatible sprockets as finances permit.

Kellie's having some trouble with her new bike. I think it's a sticky float in one of the carbs. Also the gas tank came off another bike and only holds 2 gallons.

She says it's surging up to 4K rpms and slowly drops down. Not a throttle cable issue. Someone talk to her. PM her on FB, something.

Hey she's Kelli, not Yakky Doodle, so when she gets the bugs out of the bike she'll have bugs in her teeth. She's the little nerdy lady from Buffalo oh. Go Kelli go, Kelli, go Kelli go!

I'd like to see that bike in person Kelli. Think you can make it to New River on one tank of fuel?
