View Full Version : Has anyone updated their name/address using ULS?

I'm thinking about getting ham plates for my Jeep; however, NC wants to understandably make sure the license name/address on the title matches what the FCC has. I haven't updated my ULS address since I upgraded anyway, so I figured I could just do an administrative update and everything would be taken care of. Right?

Wrong. The app got "returned" to me, which is FCC parlance for "you fucked something up, but we don't tell you what it is".

Has anyone run into something similar before? I'm basically at the point where I just need to call someone in Gettysburg and figure out what's going on.

I was successfully able to do it. But do not remember how I went about it.

As a note- make sure if you are an ARRL member to update that address directly. They do not pick the changes up from the ULS- or at least did not in my case.

I know- not helpful- except to say it does work if you do it correctly.

Link? I need help too. I was able to renew through ULS but I can't figure out how to change anything.

i changed mine a few months ago and it was all pretty obvious. in fact, after nine years at the VA, it was *too* obvious. worked just fine.

I wonder if it's because I'm trying to change my licensee name at the same time that they just don't know what to do with it.

No time today between meetings to call them, but I'll try tomorrow.

Ironically, I want ham plates for this vehicle, even though it'll likely never have a radio in it beyond the HT I take on hiking or photo trips

Go here:

http://wireless.fcc.gov/uls/index.htm?job=home

Log in:

http://i676.photobucket.com/albums/vv124/scottaschultz/uls_2_zpsusqlyjqo.jpg

Your FRN is on your license. If you don't know your password or have forgotten it, you will have to click "Contact Tech Support"

The assuming you get in, click "Update" in the box on the right side of your screen.

http://i676.photobucket.com/albums/vv124/scottaschultz/uls_3_zpsekgyxbzm.jpg

On the next page, make sure "No" is selected in both boxes and click "Continue" (You will see it on the right side of the page, I promise!)

http://i676.photobucket.com/albums/vv124/scottaschultz/uls_4_zpsoogetd1a.jpg

You will then see a page where you can make your changes. You can change your name as long as it does not change the ownership of the license. IOW, you can only change your name (like from Charles to Chuck), but you can't transfer the license to someone else.

It takes less time to make those changes than it did to read this post!

Tried everything up there again, but I doubt it'll take.

Just pay W5YI $8 to make the changes you want and be done with it: http://www.w5yi.org/page.php?id=87
