I have been through hell the past 7 years caring for the parents and now that they are both gone my life has a whole new hell to go through as I try to pick up some very shattered pieces of myself and must relocate to a new place to live as the estate must be sold off and I have hit nothing but financial roadblocks. But I am back.
Sorry to hear about your parents, but welcome back. And thanks for not calling us fuckers (https://forums.hamisland.net/showthread.php/29711-Hey-Fuckers!?p=639643&viewfull=1#post639643).

Well, at least SOME of us.
Sorry to hear about the turmoil your life is in at the moment. I hope it turns around soon and you can start living the good life and get back on the air. Or is that an oxymoron?
Welcome back. Sorry to hear about your losses.
My parents moved into a rent-controlled apartment complex in West Trenton after my brother graduated from HS. Lost Dad many years ago, Mom is still there. Hope you can find a deal something like that.
Nice to have you back. I hope you can get your bearings and stability again soon. Totally can relate to a personal hell the last several years myself. I am sorry for your loss. That particular milestone you speak of is right around my corner I'm afraid since we are of a similar vintage and it's never something I would wish on anyone. This point in life I have not been looking forward to at all. My only hope is that suffering is minimal.
Again, nice to have you back on the last bastion of ham radio sanity on the interwebs. Enjoy!

Never mind the roadblocks, it may look like a sea of flashing lights ahead, but there's always a hole in the middle so FLOOR IT! Two steps in the right direction, you upgraded from no code Extra to 5 WPM Extra and found your way home, right here with the rest of us Misfits. You'll find a place to live, you may be luckier then me and can put up an antenna or three, you can make it if you try, don't worry, be happy. Anyway, welcome home, I missed you....... but only because I can't shoot straight.
Welcome back!
Sometimes life isn't fair, but as my ex's lawyer said to me when I told her what I thought of the divorce decree, "Mr. Schultz, "fair" is a weather report!"

Thanks to all my ham peeps for the warm welcome back, the issues I am dealing with go way deeper than I am letting on and just don't want to go into and give everyone a major downer. I need all your prayers through this since I have lost all hope.

We don't need a major downer, but you need a major upper so here it is. Remember what Jim Morrison shouted at the end of the intro to Soft Parade, YOU CANNOT PETITION THE LORD WITH PRAYER! The only one besides God who knows your troubles is you, discuss them with Him and remember Noah. No matter how rough the storm, when you go with God there's always a rainbow when it's over. I could go on but I don't want to get preachy, just two more important things to remember about prayer. God speaks with that little voice inside you so be quiet and listen, be patient because He never answers until you are ready to receive the message. There are some things he does not answer because sometimes the answer is no.
Speaking from many years of experience and rough times you can't imagine, everything happens for a reason and reasons we mere mortals cannot understand. It's all in God's plan for you and to borrow the title of an old corny TV show, Father Knows Best. God's teaching comes through life's experience and often it's tough love. I've always come out a better person for it and so will you, so never give up hope. I know you'll make it through alright and seldom in the way you might expect.
I could have sent this as a PM, but knowing there are others here among the Misfits in need of a bit of inspiration I wrote these words of wisdom as an open letter. I may be a grumpy old bastid, but I have another side, I am the epistolary...... with a heart of (insert expletive here). (;->)
Nicely put Warren. Thank you for that.

Thanks. I just can't get a break, had the car in for oil change, came out with a major repair over 800 and I need all new struts in near future, another 2k but I plan to get a few second opinions about that. If God really provides then why am I in such a mess financially and almost homeless because I have to be out of this house that should have been months ago so they could sell it?
welcome back yo, and sorry for your losses.
Struts are an easy check - so much so I bet you could do it yourself. First, bounce one corner a couple times. Does it stop right away? If so, its probably OK. Still not sure, check if there is any oil leaking from around the piston rod. No leak, good. Oily residue, no bueno.
Don't want to mess with it? That's cool too. At least now you know what the 5 minute procedure to check struts is!
$2000 seems steep. But I have been out of the biz for a while.
Edit: should've mentioned, repeat on all four corners-unless that was patently obvious.

There are many jokes about women being taken advantage of at the service garage and they are unfortunately true. I could be wrong not knowing the condition of the vehicle, but from what you say you could be the latest. The workaround is let a competent, knowledgeable man take it in for service. Next time don't buy an American money pit, the VXAmobile was a Toyota that served well for 15 years. BTW it was a no frills get me from A to B car, the less there is the less to break down.
"If God really provides then why am I in such a mess... ?"
If you had read and understood my previous post you would not have asked. Now please read it again slowly bit by bit so you can absorb each part and at least try to understand me this time. One more very important thing, don't expect others including God to do things for you, God helps those who help themselves. Pray for guidance so you may do the right things, but it's up to you to do them and so far through all of this I haven't seen you doing a thing. Don't sit there waiting for it to happen, MAKE it happen... please.

A competent and knowledgeable man? In the auto repair industry? There's an oxy if ever there was one.
When you are reasonably young, parents are regarded as a permanent institution, our offspring still think like this and they are passing 40! I didn't see if you had any siblings but if so it can be quite a solace in that loss of family can be shared so I've been lucky.
I hope you can stay busy and keep on the radio!

"A competent and knowledgeable man?"
That's what I said.
"In the auto repair industry?"
That's NOT what I said. I'll rephrase that, a man who can smell BS a mile away in a hurricane and there's plenty of that in the auto repair industry. Es claro Senorita?

I do have an older sibling who is married and they have done everything to stab me in the back every step of the way. It will be a while before I can even think about getting on radio again but thanks for the confidence.
