Guess that is why I could never be a Communist. Everything they sing sounds like a funeral dirge. Maybe something more lighthearted like "Take this Job and Shove It" by Johnny Paycheck.
I dunno, some parts of it sound pretty Tea Party:
The State oppresses and the law cheats.
Tax bleeds the unfortunate.
No duty is imposed on the rich;
The rights of the poor is an empty phrase.
Enough languishing in custody!
Just FYI, The Internationale was originally written in French.

If you didn't mention the title I would have taken it for one of several national anthems they've had over the years that all sound the same, like the funeral for the late CCCP.

Anthem of the USSR is pretty good, as far as anthems go.
Or to borrow a line from Yakov Smirnoff....

My bank in Moscow just came out with a new credit card called the Soviet Express Card. Their motto, "Don't leave home!"

Really? To me that anthem sounds like a 70 year old couple who have been married 60 years doing the bump and grind. Me, I'd like it a little more passionate and lighthearted, let's say like the song "Bolero". :)
