He Made It!

I have a kid who always wanted to be a LEO in town, he applied and passed all of the tests except the final test; he was eliminated then.
He took a position with a State agency as an Investigator but, wasn’t really happy there so, he tried to again for the police Recruit Class. Again he passed all phases of the entrance exams but, he did not make it through the seventh phase (the-who-you-are-related to/ know phase); he was passed over.

He and my D-I-L decided to open a Work-out facility as a second source of income and, are doing well but, he wasn’t satisfied so, he applied for the Fire Service. Again, so much of what happens around here depends on who you know or who you are related to. But, let me digress; four years ago, while my son was applying for the Police force, his wife (Danielle) became a Fire Candidate, graduated and is now in the Fire Service.

Fast forward to yesterday; my son (Terrence) gave up his gun and investigator position with the State of Ohio to join the Cincinnati Fire Service. I am happy for the pair of them and, it’s just a matter of time before I will have a third child working for the Fire Department of Cincinnati.

It all depends on where the survey was taken. In this one horse town where the horse left for greener pastures long ago the firefighters wish they were cops. There is far more risk involved in fighting a structure fire than making a coffee and donut run which is why the PD went with full time encryption on both channels while all 4 FD channels are in the clear. Could that be why firefighters are called (city's) bravest?
