Yeah, not the way I did it with the 350 still in my '73 Chevy, the second best car I ever owned never ran again... WWWAAAAAAAAA!!!!!! I'll have you know the very best was an '85 Toyota Tercel hatchback like this except it had a yellow accent stripe down the center, an NMO mount in the center of the roof and these under the hatch, the infamous VXAmobile. Not to put the famous small block down, but unlike American money pits, Honda leads while Toyota comes in second in reliability. Mine saved every major repair for all at once at the bitter end as it should be.

Rebuilding engines—especially those old American V8s—is not as difficult as you think. I've done a few (as well as a couple of British and Japanese four-bangers) and, for me, the only really hard part was getting the crankshaft seals done right so there were no oil leaks afterwards.
