You reminded me of one of those types I had the misfortune to know and avoided like the plague. He wore a dirty surplus uniform from the Vietnam era and claimed to be a veteran, although he never saw a minute of service, using it to con people who took pity on "a disabled vet". He was begging for beer money. I called him the belching swine because on his off days he sat in front of the TV drinking, laughing and belching until noon when he passed out. Then later he came to and continued until late evening when he passed out for the night. To make matters worse he peed all over the bathroom floor, the stink was so bad in summer with the windows open I could smell it out in the street. I was friends with the lady downstairs, worse yet it ran down into her kitchen below, I'm so glad I didn't live there! The good ending to a nightmare is you wake up, the good ending to this one was the neighborhood eyesore was demolished and replaced by new houses with decent people living in them. A few years later I heard it through the grapevine, unsurprisingly the belching swine drank himself to death but just where I don't know.
