Here is a link to a youtube recording I found of a lecture given by Robert Swanson,engineer and inventor of virtually every horn found on ships and locomotives in North America and around the world!

I vaguely remember this talk as I believe it was the one he gave at the British Columbia provincial museum in Victoria when I was 15 years old (Swanson was an acquaintance of my Dad so I had to go to this)

His talk is interesting with a lot of technical explanations on the musical and engineering side of how and why his horns sound the way they do.

Another video,on youtube,of a CBC news interview they did with Mr.Swanson taken at his Horn testing facility on Green Mountain Road at South Wellington south of Nanaimo (I vaguely remember seeing this on TV as well)
