View Full Version : Dr. Strangelove or How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love the Bomb
I have seen this movie dozens of time and for some reason, this quote never hit home.... until tonight. It is my newest most favoritist movie quote of all time... for now:
Gen. 'Buck' Turgidson (played by George C. Scott) has just knocked down Russian Ambassador Alexi de Sadesky (played by Peter Bull) accusing him of taking pictures of the War Room with a camera hidden inside a match box when President Merkin Muffley (one of the three parts played by Peter Sellers) says, "Gentlemen, you can't fight in here! This is the War Room!"
The scene at the Coca-Cola machine cracks me up every time.

Dr. Strangeglove and 12 O'clock High were mandatory training films in Air Force ROTC. One was to teach leadership and the other the absurdity of nuclear war. I'll let you guess which was which.

Trick question. Both. For both.
One of the digital sub-channels was showing this last night. Was it MeTV?
Funny thing... Dr. Strangelove, according to IMDB, actually had a positive effect on US military thinking. (I know, what a concept). Allegedly, there were actual changes in policy to prevent the absurd scenario in the movie from actually happening. [ Regardless of what the damn Russkies were actually going to do to your precious bodily fluids. ]

You're going to have to answer to the Coca Cola company.

I think it was MeTV. Immediately after Dr. Strangelove, they showed "Failsafe" featuring Major Tony Nelson as the Rooshun interpreter to the president.
