I just ordered the 12 and 17 meter add on kit for my 6 band, ground mounted , butternut vertical. List is $79, On sale at HRO for $59.95. Sounds like a pretty good deal for an extra 2 bands.

Love it. I had an HF station set up out in the yard last summer, using the HF6V vertical and an Icom 706. The antenna seems to work well on all 6 bands, especially 20 meters. Now, I'm going to have 17 and 12. Butternut also sells a 160 meter add on for about $210.

'IBC, you could run a Butternut and just keep it folded over most of the time.

I'm a fan of the GAP antennas as well, the Titan is decent.

10 and 12 have been up and down lately especially since we are on the downhill side of the current cycle, but 17 absolutely rocks!

Shhhhh.... don't tell anybody!

I had a chance to buy a HF9V couple years ago and passed on it..

Which (given the height of an HF-6V/9V) should give you about 10Khz of bandwidth on 160m..... if you're lucky. :-P

What's the consensus on mounting a Butternut HF-V elevated, with several tuned radials per band?

I finally got the 12 & 17 meter add on kit installed, and retuned the rest of the antenna. The SWR is very high on 10 meters now, I'm going to work on that. The other bands are fine. I was surprised at the amount of activity on 17. First station I worked was a VP5, 5-9 both ways. :agree:
