OK, I know there are all sorts of... interesting... electronics coming out of China these days, but this?

http://www.alibaba.com/product-detail/VHF-UHF-136-174-220-260_60130915544.html?spm=a2700.7724856.35.1.UXEhXi (http://www.alibaba.com/product-detail/VHF-UHF-136-174-220-260_60130915544.html?spm=a2700.7724856.35.1.UXEhXi )

If I'm reading these specs right... a tri-band (capable) radio, running about 60 W out on 2 & 220, 45 W on 440...

for $150? (That's the price that some vendors are showing on Amazon, amongst other places)

There's got to be a catch. (It does do repeater splits, doesn't it?) I must be missing something.

Too bad it's about 10 - 15 years too late, considering how "down" most 2/440 FM activity is in these parts (and 220? Nothing to speak of)

Well, if HTs were selling for under $30, I'd say that's right on the mark.

I just bought an FT-60R for $150, though, because I'm a lewser (and I can't stand the Chinese HT ergonomics).

Nope, single bander. Three band choices.

Nope, single bander. Three band choices. That's why I said tri band capable.

I'm actually surprised at what I saw on the Ali Baba site. Either one or more firms in China are building at least some rigs for Yaesu, who are now marketing them direct (complete with Yaesu-labeled packaging)... or one or more firms have made near-perfect counterfits, right down to the packaging.

I started looking at this because a co-worker is considering starting a small hamfest-based business selling small parts and accessories. There's been a void in the area in that type of hamfest vendor, since Cathy Sauder has significantly cut back the number of 'fests she goes to, and Stu from ITEC has had some medical issues. Don't know if he is going to go through with this, and if he does, if I'm going to join him on it... we shall see. In the meantime, though... I had no idea that THIS much was available. A lot, but not THIS much.

It says that the supplier is capable of producing 10,000 units per month, so you might receive a better discount with a QUANTITY buy! :)
