Good friend of mine has recently become legally blind. He can still see a little bit but he can't recognize who I am until I get like a foot away from his range of vision. Not sure what caused it to happen. We often take our senses for granted. But we should be thankful for our hearing, sight, etc.

Diabetes can cause sudden or slow blindness. He also may have just seen his elderly parents having sex which will also cause blindness. Also mini strokes can cause sudden blindness depending on where in the brain it occurred.

Yeah, but he didn't want to talk about the cause.

Don't make a spectacle of yourself !! :snicker:I failed to see the solution. Eyesight is the most precious sense. Losing it is really not a thing to joke about. If I lost my eyesight, I could not watch porn anymore. A day without porn is hard to imagine.

Loosing ones sight is a terrible thing. It certainly is no joke. In the case of my friend it was most likely diabetes that was left untreated for many years as he never went to a doctor for many decades. Fortunately he has some sight remaining and now that the diabetes is under treatment hopefully he will retain at least some vision. I too was afraid of going to doctors for many years and I used to avoid medical exams and checkups in my younger years. After all when you're in your 20's you think you are invincible. These days I am no longer phobic about medical exams and I realize the importance of getting a periodic checkup. In fact I plan on having an eye exam soon. I notice that I need magnification to work on small items and reading printed sheet music is a bit difficult to discern.

When I was a kid, I always wanted a telescope to view the heavens. My parents who bought everything at Sears got me a "low cost" refractor with a 2.5 inch lens. The telescope was far from perfect but my eyes were great. I thought some day I would buy a good telescope.Today I can afford a great scope, but my eyes have gone to hell. Life can be really mean at times.

They do make soundtracks, you know...or are you still watching the old 8mm silent-reel stuff? :snicker:

You can put CMOS cameras in the eyepiece and connect that to your laptop or what have you. It's really awesome especially with today's technology and LED displays. No more having to acclimate your vision AND you can adjust the sensitivity to pull out all kinds of celestial objects. I'm talking physical zoom, digital zoom and light sensitivity. It's worth looking into.

This reminds me of that Twilight Zone episode "Time Enough at Last" with Burgess Meredith.
