W2PIR in California (http://www.pe.com/articles/tower-765675-antenna-city.html) has haters next door.

Thursday evening, April 23, city Deputy Development Director Emilio Ramirez visited the house to discuss the tower and set an appointment for more discussion Friday. He wouldn’t say what they talked about Thursday and could not be reached Friday.

“This has gotten far more complicated than I ever thought it would,” Braiman said later in the dining room. “All I wanted to do was my hobby and serve my community.”

Our kind are always persecuted.

It was approved, he had a building permit, there doesn't appear to be an HOA, so.............to hell with the neighbors. And poor teary eyed Christy.

Put your antennas up in the middle of a grove in the woodlands surrounding your property. Out of sight; out of mind.

I dislike living in a situation where I'm living in super close proximity to neighbors, and the next property I buy will fix that.

Hey, Eddie—what's this “grove in the woodlands” thing he's talking about? Is it like a bunch of cactus or something?

You've never seen a grove of Saguaros or Cholla? The Cholla groves really jump out at you.

The desert southwest is so open that one can probably find a place to put up whatever they want. Towards the coasts...not so much.

Besides, a historic district in Riverside? Who Gnu....and according to a follow-up article, http://www.pe.com/articles/tower-765942-historic-city.html, the city planning commission is "revisiting" the issue, on the primary grounds of the historic district.

Right.

Note that W2PIR replaced a 42 foot pole with a 25 foot tower... a crank-up tower than can go up to 57 feet, mind you.

So the "solution" is obvious. Keep the tower cranked down in daylight, crank it up a night. It's been done before, to preserve the "historic" district.

3 will get you 2, though, that his permit is revoked & he's ordered to take the tower down. So this will end up in court. Hope his lawyer has brushed up on PRB-1 precedents.

The dirt here is made out of iron. The pope remembers when that happened. Weren't you the foreman on that project?

I had a neighbor tell me that his electrician told him that my wire dipole was "extremely dangerous". I told him not to worry. I told him that instead I'll worry about the "extreme danger" so he won't have to.
