View Full Version : Who DIDN'T operate during the contest last weekend - and why?
Most creative excuse wins.
I'll start. As mentioned elsewhere:
Contesters were clogging up my favorite frequency, and since the rig's mode switch and VFO were rusted into place I couldn't move. None of them would respond to my calls of "Up LID! Up LID!", either.

I couldn't operate the contest as PHOEBE was sitting on the logbook and bit my hand everytime I tried to reach for the VFO dial or the laptop keyboard

The mother ship from my home planet Melmack dropped a load of supplies off and I was too busy sorting the quadloos to get involved in one of the indigenous earth puss bag contests.

I had my iPhone6 hollering CQ and nobody would come back to me. This is why I hate contests. The latest technology and still no contacts.

It's the name (slightly different spelling) of a planetarium in downtown Chapel Hill, coincidentally across the street from a few sorority houses.
It does have a very large dome.

See in our department of antenna's you will find my post and progress there.
Finishing touch will be the mounting of the stinger next to the main radial, then it's done.
40 - 6 meters wideband and working well with the length I now have chosen as practical, and still effective.

Where is the 10 meter AM freq range? Most of the AMers I hear are around 28.800. I run FM up to 29.and up. I love hitting those 10M repeaters. My fav is 29.62. There is always a battle of hetrodyne between a New York machine, and the BIG signal in the Bahamas.

I couldnt make it because i had made some pineapple upside-down cake...but it came out upside-down. No matter how i tried, i couldnt get it to right itself, it was always wrong!
This went on from friday afternoon to sunday evening. When i finally figured it out, i went to turn on the radio and realized i missed the entire thing. I just sat there in the dark...quietly. The cake was stale by then so i never ended up eating any.
