I'm looking for a simple, cheap(ish) and easy SDR receiver that I can either connect directly into the USB port on my computer or through the serial port. Needs to have easy to find software on the net or include a disc. Should have wide frequency range and the software should have band segment scan as well as other scan options.
I don't know what's out there. Been looking online and what I've seen is either super cheap with little description of capabilities or is still being advertised and is out of stock OR, it's super expensive and is basically a radio box that connects to a computer. I already have the latter with an Argonaut V.
Help. Pointers. Advice. (?)

Get that, the tv dongle, a few cables and the project box. Should be under or around $100 total. I bought a setup last year but still havent gotten around to getting it up and running. Quite a few vids on YT to show how it works

I'm not certain. It might be but not positive. Who is selling it on Amazon?

See, I've been looking on Amazon and I thought it looked familiar but there was no description of what the dongle received and I was under the impression that it was for OTA HDTV. I have a spare laptop now and I want to do a dedicated receive station utilizing it.
I did not specify how wide banded I wanted it to be. Scanning V/Uhf would be nice. Having HF is always good. All mode always a plus.
Easy Peasy is always a big plus.
Any tips, tricks or hacks you have would be greatly appreciated. I'm old. I'm tired. It takes a lot these days to catch my enthusiasm. I am hoping that the receive will really light me up and keep looking for more.

You're just wanting a receiver? The wife got me a "Grundig Satellit 750" for Christmas. You can find them at a steal.
Not sure if this will help, but I have a SoftRock 40 meter receiver that was built by Tony Parks KB9YIG. I never got around to do anything with it (long story having to do with getting a laptop free to plug it into). $25 plus shipping.
