I don't know if I will be on the computer tomorrow with family coming in, but I want to wish everyone on the Island a very Merry Christmas from my house to yours !

After considerable thought, I have decided to take offense at your "Merry Christmas" greeting. I feel that by wishing me a Merry Christmas you are falling back on outdated, elitist, patriarchal, ableist, heteronormal, white-privileged and cis-privileged habits of thought and communication.

In future, I would appreciate it if you would amend your greeting to "Happy Holidays."

And, you are probably one of those people who think Santa Claus is white.

I am currently baking, listening to ole' Bing singing White Christmas, and drinking Gin and Tonics. Also, I wanted to share what I posted on Facebook:

Christmas time is upon us! It gives one pause to reflect on the previous year and anticipate the upcoming year. Every year, I read a Christmas Carol by Charles Dickens as a reminder of why we are here on Earth. It is not to acquire things and be selfish, but to share the burden with each other in this thing called Life. My favorite verse in the Bible: "Bear ye one another's burdens, and so fulfil the law of Christ." (Gal 6:2 KJV) I seem to lose focus of this and Christmas is a way for me to realign myself. So Merry Christmas to all! And to quote the well known Canadian Philosopher, Red Green, "Remember, I'm pulling for you. We're all in this together."

So Merry Christmas you lovely, wonderful misfits!!!
