It does not seem that long ago. I miss my email friend from down under, and my conservative buddy from down south too. :sadwave:
I'm sorry that I wasn't able to be here as much as I'd have liked for the last couple of years. Vaya con Dios amigo.
I still miss him and think of him often as well.

They will be missed, and as long we're thinking about them they are still with us...R.I.P.

Every year on this day I cry my eyes out. It seems silly in a way, seeing as I never met him in person. But what I knew of him and the exchanges we had... He was a very profound and positive influence in my life when I was going through a very difficult time-- as have a few of you as well.

Very few of us ever met up with him, but he had a very special way about him. I think that is what left such a lasting impression, and why he is and will continue to be so missed.

Yes, as long as we're still thinking about them, they will always be with us.
BTW, I got an email yesterday from Forever Missed.

Same mail, and wrote another post there.
Albi is in an excellent place....he has UNLIMITED supplies of the finest single-malt!!! But, we miss him!
Guys,
I know I am a late comer to the Island, and not a regular participant at the bar, but could you let me know who Albi was?

Erudite, educated, excellent control of the English language, wordsmith and an good friend for most of us even if we didn't meet him in person.
A very good human being that we lost much too soon.
Even now I am doing him short....

He was a thinker. His posts were usually thought provoking, and for most of us, required the use of a dictionary to cipher the big words. I for one always wondered why someone of that level of intelligence, knowledge, humor, and command of the language, wasted his time with the likes of us. But I'm sure everyone else would agree that we are all glad he did. Our lives are much richer for having known him.
Well damn, I wish I had known him.
I will drink to his memory as well...
RIP Albi, cheers...

I wish you could have known him, too. Just make sure your drink to him is from the top shelf. Albi didn't drink crap like Old Rubber Hose, it was always the good stuff.
Albi was a very worthwhile sort to have around, and he truly loved ham radio.
We've lost several good Island friends over the years.

We've lost several good Island friends over the years.
MANY of the GREAT ones have left our presence. We should set aside a day for Island remembrance of all the Beachcombers that graced our soil.

I'm looking for some of the funnier PM's from Albi, remembering when I was calling him Albert the Alligator from Pogo. There was something going on, a ruckus in the Alpha Hotel, that got him all fired up. He liked that cartoon as much as I, and the cigar just makes it perfect. We could mine a lot of gems out of this site. Fun way to remember him.

IOMH classics indeed. From what I have gleaned, Albi was in constant PM mode with most of us. He made it seem like I had him all to myself.

I was going to say I didn't have much interaction "thread" wise with him, but I do recall a few PM's.
Def missed for sure.

I don't drink well drinks at all. I like to think that I drink middle shelf stuff like Crown Royal. During the holidays I get some Hennessy Cognac. Speaking of which, I am out. Need to make a stop on the way home tonight.
