See and hear a 28.5L (that's not a typo) Fiat start up for the first time in 103 years here (http://jalopnik.com/watch-a-28-5l-fiat-start-for-the-first-time-in-a-centur-1665309191). That's 28.5L—about twice the size of the engine in the average tractor-trailer rig—in four cylinders, BTW.

Sorry, I can't do an embedded video, but here's a soundless animated GIF:

Looks like something John Deere could put in their riding lawn mowers. Imagine cutting an entire golf course in 2.765 minutes. Instead of one a day, you could cut fore, if you had the balls, of course.

More about The Beast here (http://theoldmotor.com/?p=122246). For us metric-impaired Americans, 28.5L works out to 1729 cu. in., with a 7.5-inch bore x 9.843-inch stroke. SOHC, by the way—pretty advanced for the time.

No muffler and no ear protection. The next day... WHAT? I CAN'T HEAR YOU! SPEAK LOUDER! WHAT? I STILL CAN'T HEAR YOU!

Nice but it looks like they are running it without the shroud. :snicker:

Sure it is. Because of it's date of manufacture (1910), it's grandfathered in.

Smog wise. But I don't see a spark arrestor on that thing! :)

With all that Ooompapa, it's about 300 HP.

Here's a modern 305 HP 2.5 liter 4 banger boxer...

Well, if you're gonna be like that, how about this 1.6L (same displacement as a Fiat 500) Ferrari F1 engine that delivers over 600 BHP?

I just love the shop it comes out of.

No $15,000 chromed Snap-On roller boxes, polished epoxy floors, $120 soft-grip rubberized mallets. Old rugs, greasy shelves and a dog.
