Yes, you read that correctly. It's now on Amazon.

The image suggests usage in Latin America ("Canal 1")

I know the California Highway Patrol uses frequencies in the low 40 mhz spectrum.

Anybody know of who Alinco thinks is their target market for this radio?

Anybody know of who Alinco thinks is their target market for this radio?

Future victims of $7500 minimum fines and in rem seizure of their equipment, mostly...

I think that 40-45 MHz is one of the "private land mobile" bands.

The same bunch who thinks it's cool to use a VHF rig with a parametric doubler and directional antenna to hijack the US Mil FLTSAT network as their private CB network.

There are a LOT of links to various sites about this rig. Most of them in non-English langages.

Whomever the target audience is, I don't think it's hams.

I put the 40-45MHz frequency range into the search limits of one of my R7000s and let 'er rip. Be interesting to see if I can pick up any locals using the spectrum.

All I can remember are the PA State Cops using it because of mountainous terrain and long range. I don't know if any of that applies today with all the repeaters out there.

I cruised over to the FCC ULS and did a search of licensees in CA who were using the 40-45 MHz range. 697 hits; almost all of them active.

It's going to be very interesting when the LATAM trucker brigade starts using these frequencies then crosses over into territory where in rem seizures are a possibility.

"Anybody know of who Alinco thinks is their target market for this radio?"

The usual pirates since Terry died and left them on their own. I've heard fishing boat captains chattering on unused Coast Guard only VHF marine channels and unused channels in the nearby railroad band. I've even heard a couple of guys using encrypted narrow band P25 portables on a frequency between the standard ARR assignments. The only reason I knew they were there is because they were bleeding over on an Amtrak frequency.

CHP is in that area....40-50ish. I know they have some stuff in the 46 and 47 area.

42.320 is Stockton dispatch. 44.920 is the base frequency. Have them both in the scanner. But they have stuff in the 46 and 47 area in the Bay Area.
