Closed the deal today at the Honda dealer. 2013 Honda CB1100 with 350 miles on the clock. Like new. Has the old reliable DOHC inline 4. 1140 CC's fuel injected, 5 speed , with hydraulic clutch. Mine looks just like this but has a Honda windshield.

Very cool looking bike. I used to think windshields were for pussies, but my last bike had one and I would never ride without one again. The wind can really beat the hell out of you. Good luck with it, I'm sure you'll have many hours a fun.

Nice ride. Just be careful and keep an eye on the people that don't have an eye on you.

Good 'ol upright bikes are coming back. :agree:

Just for fun, have you seen the "old is new again" Harley Street 500 and 750 bikes?

I saw one going down the street the other day. I'm not sure if it was the 750 or the 500. The CB1100 is sexier. Since the bike companies are on the kick of lowering the CC's I'd love to see that CB1100 cut in half. Maybe a bit more. Like a modern CB350.

I have grown fond of small displacement bikes. Insurance and fuel economy sure helps the wallet and hasn't seemed to reduce the fun.

When I first looked at the picture, I thought it was a vintage bike.

Yeah, I've seen it, and it was leaking oil...

A new Harley for just under or just over $7K.

They needed to do that.

All it needs is the two-into-two exhaust of the CB750s ;)

Sharp looking ride. Too bad 1100 is way too big for my 5'8" noobishness :(

Beauty George. That 1100? Is that as in 1100 cc?Yeah, but it's really 1140 CC's . 540 Lbs and 86 HP. Not superbike fast, but it will keep up with traffic. They gave me a good deal, so I traded in my old 81 CB750. I'll miss the old girl.

Here I am limited to 125cc for two years. A little small for my liking, physically. The speed is fine for living in the city. Actually, it is a HP limitation but basically that means you need a 125. Not a big deal because I plan on being here for months not another two years. Which is also why I haven't bought a bike. I have used an in-law's bike a few times. A Zing 125. It is actually pretty comfortable for a small bike.

I want a new bike when I get back to the states, not sure what to get. My interests are all over the map. I have a bike in the garage waiting for me. My dad bought my mom a bike but she is content riding on the back of his so I will have something to play with. Though, there is likely to be snow on the ground when I get home. A perfectly good Intruder 800 is sitting there going to waste so I may just play around on that for awhile. It has been awhile since I have been on anything over 125cc. In fact, it has been about 4 years.

Yeah, Dad has a bit of a newer model for himself. A Suzuki C50T. Not a bad bike at all. The weight distribution is quite nice and makes it feel rather light. At least in comparison to everything I have owned. Then again, everything I have owned was older and heavy. My GS450 was lighter but felt heavier.

A lot of my family has something from the Vstar line but they feel rather top heavy.

Just picked up the Harley from the shop. They did a nice job repairing it from the accident damage , but 4 months? Been spending a lot of time on the new Honda, what a great bike. And I love the fuel injection.

Glad to see you got your Harley repaired, George - and that CB1100 is a cool bike. I've been wanting to check one out, if for nothing else to see how a modern UJM (Universal Japanese Motorcycle) fares against more intensely focused offerings.

Quick, Quiet, smooth, and handles really well. Quite a jolt going from the Honda to the Fat Boy.

In my yoot, I owned an 1981 HD Sturgis and a 1979 Yamaha XS1100. I'm also short with a 29 inch inseam. With the Harley I always felt in control and my feet reached the ground. The Yamaha seemed like a long fall before my feet finally touched the ground.

I just read a performance review on the CB1100. 1/4 mile time was 11:78 @ 110 MPH. I knew it felt quick, but that's about 1/2 second quicker than my old 55 Chevy drag car with a big block. The trap speed was only 110, because that's where the speed limiter is set to kick in.

I was feeling all kinds of American pride reading about that modern new Harley, when I caught the line about it being made in India.

Huh?

Harley Davidson can kiss my grass from now on.

American motorcycle, you say? Let's see how refined this manufacturer's offering gets - and if I wear the Concours 14s out I might end up with one:

when you said "new wheels" I thot of this.....while not a bike, it's still pretty kewl.....

I believe the engine is a V-16.....either Allison or Rolls Royce Merlin engine from P-51 WWII fighter..:-D

I could see this cruising the local Sonic drive-in..8)

I'm pretty sure the Merlin had 12 cylinders, and it had a voice of it's own. No mistaking when one of those pass near the house.

Yep, the Merlin was a V-12. A friend of mine who was an AP mechanic used to build them for air racers. The Allison was a V-12 as well.

All sorts of reactionaries are presuming that the new "Street" bikes are made in India.

They are, but they are built in the USA too. Harley just went "global" is all.
