Shows what kind of a friend you are. I would have walked 10 miles uphill in the snow to get to the store to buy some more. Sheesh.

Fixed.... you don't get shit for snow there, Raton.
Thanks everyone!
I'm now here in Benton City, WA!
Still pretty busy here. I'm in charge of getting the new abode in livable condition. Today was scrub the greasy crap off of the cabinets day.
Tomorrow is more of the same.

That's the idea, but I don't want to paint over the grease!

I guess using a 3000 psi pressure washer in the kitchen is out of the question.

That would be correct.
Too bad as the pressure washer would blast out the cigarette smell. The puppy dog smell will go away when the carpet is replaced.
Fine West Coast living, you betcha!
Sarah's working at Hanford, I take it?

Roger that.
She really wanted out of Illinois. I told her the only way we could really do it and not get financially hosed was for one of us to find a comparable job.
The perfect storm ensued and here we are.
She has the same job, same pay and they gave us a partial relocation package.
Can't beat that.
This area is really cool. I'm going to like it here a lot, I can tell.

happy b-day! i've lost track--you're not in illinois anymore, right? [duh! just scrolled back ... ]
Any takers on the Stanford, IL place yet?
Looks like the lots in Benton City are large enough for some pretty nice antennas.

Janet showed me a pic of the place. It's definitely good for a nice dipole.
Soon we'll be in QSO again, and CO to the Pacific NW is like a pipeline of RF.

Same deal here. I'll bet we'll have better luck than we did when she lived in Sacramento.

I've been down to that area of the Columbia River Washington-Oregon state line......... 14 years ago on my way to Nevada.....it's a busy place!
The Palouse is interesting country, especially if you like geology. The bones of the earth are pretty well exposed there.
Happy Birthday, Janet!
I also see that you got your old call back.
Wilse was getting up there in the years. My first DX contact was from his place up in Rabbit Creek in 1983, he should have hung on to KL7CQ and just added a "/7" to it...he did well by the WX7P call (i even have it in my log), but its good to see that it went back to the originator. Besides, those 2x1 calls are hard to obtain these days!

Thanks, Adam.
Yeah, the callsign thing was kind of a fluke. When Sarah got the offer here, I started looking at available 2x1 7 calls. Nada.
Just for the hell of it, I looked up Wilse, and found that he passed in June, 2013. Since I was the only one who could get the call during the 2 year grace period, I got his death certificate, forwarded it to the FCC with a copy of my old WX7P license and other documents. They issued it after the requisite 17 day wait.
I tried sending in Wilse's obituary from the Spokane DX club as proof of his demise. The FCC didn't accept it. I thought I had done something wrong, so I sent the obituary for W7OW from the same source, the SDXA, and the FCC cancelled the license. The difference was W7OW's obit was referenced from the local Spokane paper, where Wilse's wasn't, so it didn't qualify. That's why I had to get his death certificate, because there was no online obits except in ham publications and they didn't reference a funeral home or a local paper.
What was funny was when W7OW's call became available (31 days after it was cancelled) it set off an application scrum. 17 hams applied for that call on the day it was available. You're welcome, whoever gets the call! I hope it's someone in the 7th district. I cancelled it as a test, I had no intention of applying for the call.
