Sorry about the Vangelis soundtrack.

Nothing wrong with Vangelis! ........ his movie sound tracks are just awesome! ......but his "Heaven and Hell" album is of specific note and his "Blade Runner" sound track of course speaks for itself.....

Great find. Also in the linked to story:

Also during the flyby, Juno's Waves instrument, which is tasked with measuring radio and plasma waves in Jupiter's magnetosphere, recorded amateur radio signals. This was part of a public outreach effort involving ham radio operators from around the world. They were invited to say "HI" to Juno by coordinating radio transmissions that carried the same Morse-coded message. Operators from every continent, including Antarctica, participated. The results can be seen in this video clip: http://www.jpl.nasa.gov/video/?id=1263 . A four-minute video depicting the efforts of a few of the amateur radio operators who participated in the event can be seen at: http://www.jpl.nasa.gov/video/?id=1262

Parts of Heaven and Hell were used by Carl Sagan for the Cosmos theme IIRC.

Another attempt to fool the public. In those videos, the Earth looks round. We all know better.

I actually participated in that. It was pretty cool.

I guess I have a grudge against Vangelis because my ex-wife, Dracula's Daughter, was a total devotee. Blade Runner is one of my favorite movies , though, despite the fact that he did the music for it.

BTW, if you haven't seen the director's cut of Blade Runner, by all means do so. It's a totally different (and better) movie than the theatrical version.

On further review, I have to revise my OP—the moon actually passed in front of the Earth.

Wouldn't it depend on your point of view?

From the view of the Juno spacecraft.

You know, I hear that Minnesota is nice this time of year...

Indeed you are correct....... he also used bits and pieces of other Vangelis albums for background music through out the entire series! ....... needless to say I enjoy his music immensely!

I've seen the director's cut of Blade Runner (the one without the silly film noir Harrison Ford narration) it gave me more respect for a really great movie! :-D

They're like tires, to get even wear, you gotta rotate them every so often.

Yep. I was about to say something similar. I'm on #3. I'm amazed that anyone has the original.
