Speaking of cosmic events I saw a beautiful meteor streak across the sky as I got off the train and was walking through the parking lot after tonight's rehearsal. The skies are very clear and dark here tonight. It appeared like it left a bit of a smoke trail but it was hard to tell for certain against the very dark sky.
That was no meteor, pal, that was...aliens!

Tonight is supposed to be one of the best nights for viewing the annual Delta Aquariid meteor showers: amsmeteors.org (http://www.amsmeteors.org/2014/07/viewing-the-delta-aquariid-meteor-shower-in-2014/)

This may have to do with what I saw tonight. From my position it was in the southern half of the sky and was streaking in a southerly direction. It was reasonably bright and definitely had a luminous trail behind it. Wish I could have gotten a picture but it was only visible for a few seconds. No way I would have time to put a camera on it. Many decades ago I saw a really bright and large fireball. It was large, bright bluish-white with a very bright trail. It also left a smoke trail. It was headed in a northerly direction and was seen by astronomers. That fireball did make it to earth. I think it hit the ground somewhere way way up in northwestern Canada.

Maybe it will become a reality when I move up there. I'll keep that name in mind :) Sort of like "Bill Haley and the Comets". :)
