Automobile parking and auto traffic is temporarily suspended on my street today as they are doing a film shoot for a movie called "Blueblood" or some name like that. It is open for pedestrian traffic and of course for those who need to pull their cars in or out to get to/from work or wherever they have to go. But closed to general traffic and parking. Wonder if they'll use the footage in the final release of the film.

"Bluebloods" is a weekly TV Cop Show with Tom Selleck. They like to film their episodes in high crime areas! ;) They probably just lied to you, they have a shooter on the street and just wanted to get you all out of the way.

I think I've already seen this on YouTube. Amazing how fast this stuff gets on the web. In fact, here's you driving the first car!

The '72 Pontiac Ventura I bought from my uncle for $300 never sounded like the one in that scene.

Well, they couldn't have picked a more high crime area. I guess they heard that I live on this street..

All kidding aside as i was leaving for tonights rehearsal I asked one of the staff members how the shoot went. He said it went down pretty good. By 6:00 pm they were pretty much wrapped up and heading out. Ther crewman told me they will be doing some more shooting at 3:00 Am at St. John's hospital which is way across town from me in Southwest Yonkers near the Hudson. That area is a rougher neighborhood but my guess is that they wanted to use the hospital for a scene. I didn't get to speak with the crewman for too long as I had to hurry to get to rehearsal. Yeah, he explained to me that it's a TV cop show. I wasn't familiar with it because I am still back in the early 1950's with respect to cop shows. So, I guess on one upcoming episode there will be a scene shot on my street. Most of the filming was done at the far end of the block.I don't think they did much, if any shooting in front of my house. They did a very courteous professional job. Much more courteous than other film crews I've encountered. They came in, set up, did what they had to, packed up, cleaned up and left. You wouldn't know they were here.

Haha!

I made it on TV also for my 7 minutes of fame.

This year at Field Day we had the video crew come out and i was being interviewed for how young I am (Which I am trying to become our section youth coordinator). My 6-7 minutes of fame will be on every Monday night for a LONG time, haha. Got to love local programming! I won't steal your thread anymore, the topic caught my eye and AI was like, "Hey, thats me!"

I'm surprised any NYCer can do his daily business without being impeded by some film crew. There are so many Reality, Talent, Romance, Cop, Fire and Lawyer shows based out of New York City.

I spent a Saturday evening as an extra for a local movie shoot, a couple of months back. If I'm lucky, you'd see me in the very back of a scene in a "NYC Diner with a 50's motif", getting up from a table with my "daughters", paying our "check", and leaving.

But it was fun, as far as it went... not only got $50 after taxes for the night, but they even reimbursed me $5 for parking in the garage... and I hadn't parked in the garage (I parked at work for free). Don't tell them, they might want the $5 back.

Years ago a mic was stuck in my face as I was leaving a computer client's place... the local Minneapolis news was interviewing folks on the street about the Berlin Wall being torn down, and asked me if I thought President Reagan was a hero. I said no way, the regular people that have to put up with irresponsible leaders in all countries were the real heros. They aired it! :muhahaha:

I don;t live in NYC. I live just outside (North) of the city in an old quiet suburban "leave it to Beaver" type community with tree lined streets, telephone poles, old houses of all types and styles. So film shoots on streets around here are quite rare. In fact this is the very first time I have ever seen anything fimed on these streets. They have used the nearby local train station several times but, these side streets, general never. This is the first time I have ever seen them around here.

NYC is different. They do a lot of filming there. Especially in Manhattan. Yes, you will encounter filming going on in NYC on a pretty regular basis. But on these streets here ? Never... or at least not up till now. :)

No I got no money from them, because I was in no way participating, nor was I asked to.. In fact although they closed the entire street to parking all the filming went on further down the street. I saw very little of any action. And other than the temporary no parking there was no inconvenience to any of us homeowners so they didn't have to reimburse us for and hardships, expenses, etc. They were a rather polite film crew. Other film crews I've encountered seem to get annoyed, impatient, and snappy when asked any questions. This bunch seemed pretty decent and responded in a friendly, courteous and informative way to any questions asked.

I have never been asked to serve as an extra nor have I ever been interviewed. Whenever I see cameras and microphones in my path ahead I become extremely good at blending in with the shadows. And don't worry.I won't tell about the $5.00. :)

Oh, I wasn't asked to be an Extra. They solicited for them. I submitted Little Miss Field Day's info & picture, and threw mine in for good measure. Me they called. She got over it (they wanted 18 as a minimum age... she was still 17. And yes, they first said 17 minimum, told me that someone changed their mind after the word went out).

I was actually called first for a different scene in a bank, but they decided that I didn't look "dignified" enough to be a banker. They also wanted me to shave the beard off.

All in all, it was a pleasant experience, with a lot of down time & waiting around. Got a free dinner out of it as well.

Now, when The Dark Knight Rises was filming down here 3 years ago, that film crew was a major, major PITA. Owners of the company declined to rent them our parking lot for the 2 weeks... because that would have made it unavailable for our people to use. Even so, their people (especially evenings) were always in here trying to chase people away. They also had a nasty habit of parking vehicles in the alley that the lot enters & exits from, and blocking the alley off completely (even though their permit did not permit them to restrict access to our place)

The scene in the movie where the Greyhound bus is used to block the truck containing the nuclear bomb? That was shot about 2 blocks from work. The Saturday night that they shot that scene was also a home Pirate game, and we had a hell of a time getting in the lot to park...

when Contact was being filmed at the VLA, I was offered the chance to be an extra...when I found out
they were only paying $5/hr & we had to take vacation time to participate I declined....turns out that
the scene they were shooting was a crowd shot that was only on-screen for maybe 5-6 seconds....

however, I did get a couple of free lunches from the caterers & had lunch with James Woods &
Jodie Foster when they saw us sitting there in our coveralls...they wanted to get a feel for what it
was like working there.....

I was also a film crew escort for several commercials & video music shoots....Bon Jovi was the
best, along with Queensryche...and yes, they all furnished lunch or dinner...

They filmed Charles Bronson's first Death Wish in front of my building. I was trying to go to the movies with my girl and the whole street was lit up like noon-time (at 8 PM in the evening). We waited for about 20 minutes, didn't hear anything, walked down the hill as Bronson was walking up and past us. Then the director yelled cut and they re-did the scene...

Yeah. It seems that some film crews can be a major PITA. I have encountered some that act like they own the world and have the right to do whatever they want whenever they want to. This crew renewed my faith in film crews. These people were very professional and courteous. I hope any future encounters I have with movie people are like this one was.

My brother was telling me about a movie that was being made in Connecticut not far from where he works. Apparently they were right near the actors trailer and they got to meet Kate Winslet and Jim Carey. According to my brother Kate Winslet was pretty obnoxious and snobby. Carey on the other hand was very polite, friendly and was joking around with the spectators and bystanders. Apparently he had a very pleasant demeanor while Winslet's demeanor was not very pleasant at all. Maybe she was just having a bad day. Or maybe it's just how she is. After the shoot the film company has a dinner for the actors and the crew with plenty of food and they allowed members of the public who were nearby to join them. I guess Winslet didn't make that decision. :snicker:
