Your going to have to put some heavier bricks under your bench.

Speaking of solar power.........have you had yours long enough to establish what kind of average savings you're getting each month or yearly? Also, is your system daytime only, or do you have the backup batteries? I'm still kicking the idea around. And welcome back, it's good to see you back, again.

Hey Ren! Good to see ya again.

And that's purdy. I'd still like to find an Eico 720 with the 730 modulator someday.

Revisit my youth.

Now the hunt commences for a decent B.A. receiver. So many recommendations both good and bad.

SP-600 or an R-390 would be top among my choices.

Ah yes, a DX-100 and R-390 mate perfectly! BTW the 390 is the best AM receiver I ever restored and operated, easy to work on and the manual saves your hair. I can give you some tips on both if you're interested, but the audio mods to the DX are basic Timtron and he has them documented on the internet making them easy peasy. One last thing, I prefer the DX you have Ren to the B because the auxiliary loading caps the original doesn't have are rather touchy and prone to failure. Having only the air variable for loading makes it a bit of a fine adjustment but livable. Add a Dow Key relay and you're off to the races!

Welcome to the hood!

BTW, a national NC303 looks great next to a DX a hundred. Oh, and please get that tacky looking tape off the front panel.

It has been HIGHLY suggested to me that even if the thing powers up that I should consider at the least, re-doing all the electrolytics in it. As for the sticker. kinda chicken to do it. be my luck I use goo-gone and more than the sticker comes up. may try WD-40 first with a plastic scraper and go from there.

Try lifting an edge with your fingernail, maybe you'll get lucky and the paper will peel off . Then you can get whatever sticky stuff is remaining with WD . Good luck.

Or you can VERY gently and carefully peel/scrape it off with a knife, it's worked for me on that very rugged boat anchor paint. When you replace the electrolytics up the voltage a bit (B+ will go up) and replace the rectifier tubes with solid state. That way you'll reduce heat and transformer load not having to furnish heater power. That's my old NC-303! It's a great receiver all around and like the R-390 mates well with the DX, but what will you call the babies?

Not to hijack...but does that kitteh have an ear notched?

Not to hijack...but does that kitteh have an ear notched?Yep, he was a feral who was trapped, fixed, given his shots, then released. Now he's pretty much a house cat. If I had know he would end up living with us, I would have told them not to tip his ear.

You have the rest of the cat so what's a little bit of ear? He looks like a nice kitteh to me, with that NY "Wachoo lookin' at?" city face too.

All cats have that. It's part of the feline repertoire.

I have found that using a blow dryer on the sticker works well. Slowly heats the residual glue as you peel back.

Yes and no, it all depends on the kind of glue. It's well worth a try, then before the metal cools you can rub what's left with your thumb.

So Ren, how 'bout an update?
