5w Baofeng
40" open coil Jetstream antenna.
Diamond K400s mount.

59 miles into the repeater.

First time I ever did that. Reports were full of noise but they were able to make out my call and location. I was doing 70mph on the interstate too!!

You're learning, Grasshopper. The antenna is 95% of your station.

Well its probably a little less since I am pretty sure that your signal did not travel down US-77 then made a left on I-636 to get from Valley View to Dallas.

It helped that this repeater is on the top of the "green" building in Dallas. The one with green neon lights down the side.

Yeah, traffic is bad on that route. It's better to take I-820 west, then I-32W north to Denton.
