Yep, over 700 horsepower. How that translates into top speed and how it corners is another story that the article didn't answer...

Dodge (http://autos.msn.com/browse/Dodge.aspx) just announced that the 2015 Challenger SRT Hellcat (http://editorial.autos.msn.com/dodge-introduces-2015-challenger-srt-hellcat) will deliver 707 hp, in addition to 650 lb-ft of torque. Let us repeat. 707 horsepower. That's more than the last Corvette ZR1 (http://editorial.autos.msn.com/photogallery.aspx?cp-documentid=508797). More than the new Corvette Z06 (http://editorial.autos.msn.com/new-corvette-z06-most-powerful-gm-car-ever). Did we mention that's more than the Viper (http://autos.msn.com/research/vip/overview.aspx?year=2014&make=Dodge&model=SRT%20Viper)'s V10?

To get that 707 hp, make sure to bring the red key. The black key is for children, new drivers and small animals. It offers a laughably low 500 hp.

The Hellcat comes with a TorqueFlight eight-speed transmission -- unless equipped with a romping six-speed manual. Yeah, you can try to tame all 707 horses yourself, if you dare. Dodge also says the interior of the Hellcat was “inspired by the classic 1971 Challenger.” We hope that means bouncing needles and a wood steering wheel, but we doubt it.

MOAR, MOAR, MOAR! Here. (http://editorial.autos.msn.com/blogs/post--dodge-challenger-hellcat-gets-707-hp?icid=autos_5803)

So, when they say it's "green", they mean that it comes in the color green?

Why would anyone need an 8 speed transmission.

They needed a car to sell in countries where people could afford it. Will there be special roads where people can cruise at a calm 160 mph?

My mountain bike has 24.

That would be designated racetracks or certain Autobahn stretches in Germany.

Yeah, why limit yourself to only eight? I'm used to either ten or thirteen myself.

And that's just reverse.

Seriously, if the quality of recent Chrysler stuff is any indication, I think this thing will self-destruct in a matter of months.

And I do mean one with modern running gear and a 6 speed manual gearbox.

Personally I'd like to see the '92 Celica make a re-appearance. The new one looks like a heap of crap.

You only need one of those if you're doing heavy-haul work. Never did that myself. It's just a 13-speed where the splitter works in both the low and high ranges.

But, does it roll coal?many poorly maintained school buses around here do, and I always seem to end up behind one on the bike.:yuck:

I remember the old NYC buses when I was a kid, Get stuck behind one of those and you were in the midst of a thick blue diesel haze. These days many buses are hybrids, electric and diesel and they don't give off any noticeable smoke or fumes. I still say they should have kept the trolleys.

I can relate... I dreaded riding past the Cordelia scalehouse on I-80 cuz of all that diesel smoke. But...the side road was so heavily patrolled...70-75 in a 55 was cool on the interstate, since the CHP was only concerned with the trucks....but Cordelia Rd had so many deputies patrolling it for scale dodgers, and only had a 5 mph speed tolerance...

It's all about power-to-weight ratios, and that Challenger looks to be a porker - regardless of how much is under the hood.

This will eat the Challenger SRT's lunch. Around 400lbs fueled, 177 RWHP. I got to play with one on Sunday. HARD.

The very first truck driving job I had back in '92 I drove one of these pulling a flatbed for local work

That thing was a rolling EPA nightmare. I see some of these rolling coal vids and i think "amateurs"...lol
Once I was sitting at a red light when I was living in florida. I reached over to the passenger seat to grab something and while doing so, i accidentally hit the fuel pedal (in neutral) and the cloud that came out was like a solid black rock... The open top jeep in front of me sort of disappeared in that cloud...the lady in the open top jeep in front of me did NOT appreciate that...lol
