8.5 million is petty pocket change. Like the pennies you toss aside and never even think of spending. 8.5 million is peanuts. What is this poor guy going to do with peanuts ?

Better driving a truck than an EX Goldman trader fired for being a whiney hiney. It must be a slow day over there at non Newser... read more, know less.

And, you get to do money laundering, and keep the profits when caught.

Yeah, but I would like the money. If he's not satisfied then he can give it to me.

Yep. He still has to pay taxes on that money. There are ways not to, but half of us aren't eligible.

I sat thinking about 8 million dollars. If i lived comfortably, that amount would literally last a lifetime!

I figured my definition of comfortable would cost me roughly $50k a year based on just living a regular Joes life. Eating well, comfortable surroundings, regular activities and hobbies and average bills. Thats $961 a week.

Basic initial cash outlay for a comfortable home (not a mcmansion or anything like that) should be $500k or less depending on property size acreage etc. add in another $30k for transportation once every 3-4 years. Add in $10k for 2-3 weeks vacation and/or travel in North America per year.

Over a 10 year period this comes to about $800k not including purchase of property/home

Thats 100 years of comfortable average lifestyle. Subtract 50% taxes fees ets and thats still enough for 50 years!

This guy get ONE bonus of $8m. I think the story stated he already got previous bonus of $20m . I wonder what his annual salary is?

It really brings home the difference between the average joe and the elite!

The streets are paved with gold. All you got to do is go out and grab it.
