Preppers who don;t have ham radio licenses have been buying ham rigs for quite some time... No surprise they like the Baofeng as it can be programmed to transmit and receive uhf and vhf well above and below the ham bands including a large chunk of the public service and FRS/GMRS bands. Also its pretty inexpensive. In fact I had to narrow mine down so it stays within the ham bands so that I don't accidentally transmit out of band. last thing I would want is to accidentally put my call out on the local police or fire repeater or find myself on some frequency where I don't belong.

Don't worry, they all use PL, DPL, P25 with NAC (network access code), ProVoice or other proprietary digital modulation, so unless you match their system you'll never be heard.

Anyway, about a week ago I ordered something through Amadouche, didn't sign up for anything, and a couple of days later received a ship load of "Do you want to buy this crap?" SPAM! Once burned twice shy, now the spam filter flushes them down the electric toilet.
