Hall of Fame baseball player Tony Gwynn died of cancer today at age 54.

Damn, I would sure like to see a cancer cure in my lifetime.
So young. RIP Tony.

Yeah, I was a little sad when I read this on FB.
I found it hard to believe. It seems like just a few years ago he was playing the game and now he's dead. Amazing how many guys who played in professional sports are dying lately. And young too.

He died of cancer of the saliva glands, from years of chewing tobacco. Oral cancer. Again.
A great one, right in there with Kirby Puckett, another amazing ball player gone too soon.

Yep, tobacco got another one. Too bad, too; he was a good guy. He and his wife Alicia started up a charitable foundation that's done a lot of good in the community.
