So, we're in the midst of getting everything together for the bathroom remodel. Postponed one week due to a change in the plumber's work schedule, but that's OK, since it leaves plenty of time for the "special order" items to come in.

Went down to Home De$pot last night to place the orders.

Now, the boss has decided that we can't, just can't, have a white commode or tub. Even though everything is available in white, and everything is cheaper in white (plus, just about everything is in stock in white). Well, what the heck, it keeps her happy... as long as everything works.

So, we pick out the new tile for the tub area, and for the wall. New vanity, sink, medicine cabinet, and "over the commode" cabinet. So, what colors go with the tiles?

She decides on Biscuit.

Tub's available in that color, only about $30 more. Fine.

Now she looks at the Kohler commode. Exact same one (Wellworth) that we have now, only in Biscuit.

The standard White one, in stock? $139

To get it in Biscuit? $469. :irked: (That's not a typo) Yup, Kohler really soaks it to you if you want a 'designer color'

I said no. She thought about it, and finally agreed.

So we switched the color from Biscuit to Bone... a slightly lighter shade.

Tub? Same price.

Commode? Went with a slightly different model (she picked it out, so I don't recall which one)... white, in stock, $169. Bone, in stock... $239. :yuck:

She's happy.

So what's the difference between Biscuit and Bone? About $230.

And... when we redo the basement bathroom, in a year or two? Well, since that's going to be "my" area (down by the shack), I don't care about the color of the tile or the paint... but the fixtures are going to be WHITE.

From my POV it doesn't matter, either way you're getting boned.

I always go for the cheapest, in this case white as well, everything different will set you back ( lots) more....better to be used elsewhere like the hobby...

I'll eat biscuits but not bones. One has to draw the line somewhere.

When all is said and done, you could always say it needs a mans touch...

No one to blame for that but myself. Didn't learn the first time. Should have listened to my dad... but no, I had to go get married again...

Actually, in the grand scheme of things, you're probably getting off easy. Happy wife, happy life.........get a chubby, happy hubby.

Just tack a new radio on the order, right below the new crapper, and you'll be all set.

We bought a high end Kohler toilet and it flushes loud.

I bought a 1-gallon flush toilet from the Home Despot for $99 and the thing works remarkably well. It's handled some pretty large loads of...product without a hitch.

As much as you spew and it only takes one gallon to push it down? That is a good toilet.

Well shit man, I've don't think I've ever seen a crapper with a hitch. What the hell would you want to tow with it? Ah.....on second thought.....never mind.

You would tow it with a Yugo. Everybody knows that.

The way i see it, Lake Mead is 40 feet below its original waterline because of leasing to all the surrounding states and excessive use by the casinos for their water features...yet, if someone in the suburbs is caught running their sprinkler during daylight hours, its a hefty fine.

So i think they can afford me the luxury of a 5 gallon tank, dammit!! :irked:

I suspect that "object" has a street value of $10k. Hence, an unexpected loud, metallic knock at the door, accompanied by many yelling voices, caused it to be lodged in the plumbing is such a hasty manner.

As much as you spew and it only takes one gallon to push it down? That is a good toilet.Actually, by law, the maximum amount of water that can be stored in the tank for flushing is 1 gallon. It's been a federal law for years.

Older commodes are "grandfathered" but when they break, they're supposed to be replaced, not repaired.

Of course, what this means is that when an old 2 gallon commode would have easily flushed once, and it now takes 3 flushes to remove... product... from a new commode, we use more water. But less per flush, and that's what's "important."

Hah, just had to use mine yesterday—not on the 1-gallon flush toilet but on the 5-gallon WC that was installed when the house was built in 1948.

1948? That makes it a collectable.
