View Full Version : Toaster Oven to Reflow Oven and SMT Soldering
Two videos I found on YouTube. For those of us looking for the easy way to work with SMT components.

Here is something I ran across the other day. If you can afford the 100 bux, and some extra $$ for specialized package tips, this isn't a bad way to go. The advantage over the oven method, is that you only direct the heat where needed. This reduces the possibility of parts shifting, and thermal shock to things like crystals and other heat sensitive components. It also reduces the probability of melting anything plastic that is on the board. I would seriously entertain getting something like this if I didn't already have my Pace stuff.

Pace, Metcal, JBC (and Etneo, if you're in EMEA) are definitely the way to go when working with SMT devices. Yes, I $pent for the collection of Pace equipment in my "lab" - even used it's not as cheap as hobby grade soldering equipment. I doubt I'll ever wear any of this gear out in my lifetime with the exception of tips and other consumables.
