Well,

Anyone can modify the range of this, which I get very scared of it getting into the wrong hands.

The receiver is much better than any other Wouxun or baofeng, and the S-meter actually works, its not like some of the others, Full signal or nothing.

Hope it does better with intermod than the UV-5R.

I have a UV-5R and thus far I am very satisfied with it. But yeah, it is prone to Intermod. Fortunately that is not a big problem where I live except for a few frequencies but in Manhattan it might be rough. Then again, my old Yaesu FT-470 used to get clobbered with intermod.
