Outside of the 30 mph winds this time of the year, the cactus are starting to bloom. These cactus are in a shallow pot about 18 inches across. The flowers are huge considering the size of the cactus. The neat thing is, they only bloom at night, but once open, only last two or three days. The saguaro aren't budding quite yet up here, but are a five hundred feet or so lower in altitude. The complexity of the inside of the cactus flowers are really amazing.

Eddie, saguaros down here are starting to bloom. Of course, the rain this past weekend helped. I'll shoot some pics as soon as the dust dies down....fuckin allergies!

No shit, tell me about it. My eyes feel like there is gravel in them. Actually, there probably is.

That's quite an original name, did the crack pipe burn their fingers before they got around to naming this one? Science is so complicated sometimes.

Shit, that would explain it, my bad.
Eddie, those peeps in Minnesota think that the desert in reality is what they see in Roadrunner cartoons.

I know. I've tried to tell them that Acme safes don't really fall from the sky, but, it's Minnesota. What can I say?

Wile E. Coyote is my role model. No matter how many times he tries and fails, he keeps trying. Me and him have something in common.

No flowering cactus in my neck of the woods.......and I literally mean woods! ......the pollen is falling from the Douglas Fir trees and the people who suffer from allergies are already complaining......fortunately I don't suffer from allergies,so I'm just an observer.....:-?
What's the weather been like there in AZ the past couple of days? It's been hot—91°F today—with 40-60 mph winds here and over 100 MPH in the mountain passes.

Temps about the same. Maybe a few degrees cooler. The wind has been a bitch. Right now it's showing gusts around 37 mph. I guess we are getting a little taste of what you are dealing with. I just hope some asshole doesn't do something stupid with fire right now.

Yeah, no shit. It's only April and we've already had a couple of brush fires around here. Things should get really exciting come October.
