Welcome Austin, grab a drink, pull up a beach chair and umbrella, relax and chat a while when you're not hanging out in our ham shack on the top floor of the Alpha Hotel. I'd also welcome you to my little hideaway here on the Jersey Shore, but you'll have to wait until after Labor Day as we do to get on our own beach. Just a short synopsis, you being the new kid on the block, we have to bear up under the summer tourist invasion (to be polite about it) and still the weekend warriors until it gets too cold for them.

There is one interesting thing though, listening on the scanner to the Coast Guard fishing them out of the drink and a dive team recovering the bodies of those who didn't make it. Sometimes we have to wait days, even months watching the news to hear about what happened to those whose bodies washed up on shore hundreds of miles away. Life here can be interesting, we have enough Darwin Awards to go around, our secret code for it is Tommy Revenge..........

Listening to local 160M AMers on my AM clock radio with unintentional out of band receive capability is what sparked this 12 yo to get his ham ticket. I wish I could locate the bastids and bitch slap em. My Dad, and I would listen to their QSO every Sunday morning.
