I wonder what early inhabitants of the earth thought about celestial events such as this?

When I lived in West Creek I used a Heathkit SB-110, nice little rig having a Nuvistor front end and 6146 final with a 6el Cushcraft 6M beam 60ft HAAT. It was great working meteors, a few burns lasted long enough for two contacts. Unfortunately at the next two QTHs my Icom IC706Mk2G and gamma fed rigid dipole 40ft HAAT didn't pan out, nice rig, not so nice antenna. I've heard of hams using high speed CW on 2M but I didn't have the software for it at the time. No comments from the CW forever peanut gallery, no one in history could send that fast by hand or copy by ear.
Yeah John, you really should get into meteors, just remember 90% of the shack is on the roof.
