Depends on the species.

Lots of eucalyptus here in CA, imported from Oz, of course.

My dad planted some in their backyard 15 years ago. They got so big that the last one was finally cut down a couple of months ago. Most eucalyptus trees around here do not exceed 15 feet in height. These reached almost 35 feet with a 20' dia canopy. With all the rain over the last 18 months, they hold as much water as they are given and break under their own weight. If a strong wind comes up when they're like this they can drop branches on the neighbor's fence.
